metadata.yaml is optional. When included, it auto-fills the publish form's name, version, description, compatible agents, required tools, permissions, and license.

You can publish without metadata.yaml — running Preview analyzes the rest of the bundle's files and infers the same fields automatically wherever possible. Always review these auto-filled values before publishing, and edit them yourself if needed.
